The Political Economy of Globalization
Published in Unknown Binding by Palgrave MacMillan (E) (March, 2000)
Average review score:

Another top hit by this renowned Oxford academicOnce more, Ngaire Woods has been able to collect top-quality essays by world-known colleagues, editing them with superb mustery, to put them in this book, a masterpiece within the subject of international relations. The book explores a number of issues within the vast field of globalization. The chapters do this from the point of view of the process' political economy, but also from a theoretical point of view. The authors' views come across in the chapters, but with superb substantiation for these views, and carefully considering others without always recurring to counter-factual arguments. All the chapters are easy-to-read, not heavy reading at all, written in a vivid style and captivating. All in all, a must for those studying the subject, and great reading.

Pot-Bellied Pigs: A Complete and Up-To-Date Guide (Basic Domestic Pet Library)
Published in Library Binding by Chelsea House Pub (Library) (June, 1997)
Average review score:

Pot-Bellied PigsKelsey-Wood has a concise, attractively formatted book perfect for the beginner, but also intriguing for others. It has an appealing mix of photos (each with an extra glossy finish) about one per page (64 pages).
The information includes all the usual basic, helpful comments and suggestions, and is easy to read with many dark titles. Best of all is the behavior/training section with imperatives for trainer and pig, and lots of discipline tips.

Pounded
Published in Paperback by Oni Press (20 October, 2002)
Average review score:

Rock on, Van City!I've been a fan of Brian Wood's art and storytelling since I stumbled across Channel Zero, but Pounded holds a special place in my graphic novel collection. Like others, I read the preview strips on Oni's web site (which are collected in the back of this book) and simply HAD to know where this story would lead. I have fallen in love with this tale of a punk-rock-posers fall from grace and brutal redemption. My only complaint is that there needs to be more. Every time I read this book I flip the pages again and again expecting there to be more chapters at the end. I've fallen so in love with these characters that I demand to know more about their lives, dammit! I even found myself making futile attempts to mimic Steve Rolston's simplified but highly characterized art. Even with thick black outlines, he makes Vancouver feel so real.

Powers That Be
Published in Paperback by Hugh Lauter Levin Associates (April, 1900)
Average review score:

Tap Into The PowerFor learning about the invisible world around us, this is a terrific book with wonderful illustrations. In an easy to read format, the book starts at the beginning and teaches us how to access new and different worlds with our intuition. Featured as a treasure chest full of dowsing instruments, charts, book, etc., this is a great kit for anyone interested in the metaphysical world. The conclusion says it all. "The energy is within us to become and achieve all that we want, if we just learn to tap in to it."

The Prehistory of Missouri
Published in Paperback by Univ of Missouri Pr (Txt) (January, 1998)
Average review score:

Honesty in ArchaeologyThis is one of the few books I have read, then reread portions of several times. O'Brien and Wood have done more than justice to their subject; they have created a new direction through their serious consideration of archaeological systemics. I especially appreciate the strong thread of honesty and humility that runs through the entire text. This is particularly evident in the introductory chapter, "Time, Space, and Form in Americanist Archaeology" and the final chapter, "A Further Consideration..." I have long suspected that we know a whole lot less about prehistory in general than the public imagines or scholars would like to believe, and I am frustrated by the plethora of virtually meaningless labels and conjectures in other works. In between the first and last chapters,is the mass of knowledge these gentlemen share. Their story of the peopling of America is fresh and open with consideration for truly iconclastic possibilities. They view the Dalton tradition probably the immediate successor of the Clovis tradition in mid-America, and the discussion is well thought out, but leaves open minds for so much more to be discovered and understood in the future. They bring the reader through the ages in the pivotal state of Missouri by clearly and objectively looking at the evidence. This book is well worth your examination whether you reside in Missouri or elsewhere.
